A vast majority of U.S. small businesses believe immigration reform is vital to their businesses, according to a survey from the National Association for the Self-Employed.

The NASE survey found that 77 percent of the nation’s small companies called the issue of immigration reform important to their business.

America’s small businesses want comprehensive immigration reform that includes a stronger electronic verify system, according to the NASE.

Direct Energy looking forward to Arizona electric deregulation discussion

Direct Energy is ready to start talking a bit more about deregulated utilities in Arizona.

The Houston-based company, which announced earlier this year it was opening another call center in the Valley, is ready to join in on the discussion of giving consumers a choice in who their electric providers will be.

Massage Envy to hire 100 in Arizona

Massage Envy Spa Arizona will host a career fair next week as it looks to hire dozens of workers for new stores.

The co-op made up of 36 local Massage Envy stores wants to hire 100 at the career fair. That event will take place May 21 at ASU SkySong to staff three new clinics that have recently opened, as well as a remodeled fourth location.

Positions available include therapists, estheticians, front desk staff and managerial roles, said Steve Cook, Arizona regional developer.

Arizona construction employment slips in April

Arizona was among 32 states and the District of Columbia that saw a slip in construction employment between March and April.

The declines came amid federal spending cuts and weaker demand in the private sector, according to the latest report released Friday by the Associated General Contractors of America.

The Grand Canyon State lost 1,800 construction jobs in the one-month period, accounting for a drop of 1.5 percent in total construction employment, according to the report, which is based on…

SkyMall merges with Xhibit Corp.

Phoenix-based SkyMall announced today it has merged with Tempe-based Xhibit Corp. and become a subsidiary of the digital marketing company.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Former SkyMall parent, Phoenix-based Najafi Cos. will remain a major shareholder of Xhibit. Company CEO Jahm Najafi said Xhibit will provide SkyMall with an even stronger competitive advantage.
